Houdini Hotkeys

September 20th 2021 12:30:32am

Houdini hotkeys and shortcuts are accessed via the Edit > Hotkeys… menu. This panel allows the user to manage all hotkeys and customize them. There are roughly over 2,500 possible items you can set.

Great care should be taken though if you do change any of them. I would highly recommend not changing any existing hotkeys. Why? If you work for studios at all and need to use their machines, it is nearly guaranteed that the defaults will be used.

Training yourself on a custom set of Houdini hotkeys you like will only hurt you in that case. Learning the defaults is the better option.

For the commands that do not have any assigned hotkey, you can have at it. You will just need to make sure the hotkey is not already used. Thankfully Houdini has a built in system to warn you when this happens.
